A Knotty Problem How many of you ladies have a jewelry box with at least one chain that is badly knotted. Usually they are the lightweight ones that are attached to a favorite pendant of some kind. Those little light chains just love to get knots in them. So ... two quick tips. If you want to unknot them, use a pair of sewing needles. Lay them flat, and then gently work them till they are unknotted. Simple huh? In fact, I'll bet most of you have already figured that out. So, here's a tip maybe you haven't thought of to keep them from knotting in the first place. First, get a soda straw. Usually soda straws are about ten inches long. Lay the chain on a table with the soda straw next to it. Now cut a piece off the straw so that it is just slightly less than half the length of the chain. Then just run the chain through the soda straw and fasten the clasp. Put it in your jewelry box, or jewelry drawer and voila, no more knots. This should work for most chains that are 20" long or less. Hope this helps. Joey |
